Picture Perfect Smile Tips

Smiles convey and are instantly associated with happiness. Of course, smiles also have a big impact on a person’s physical appearance. Because they’re so important, it’s no wonder why everyone wants to have a picture-perfect smile. The problem is that not everyone knows how to achieve one. If you have a tendency to flash strange smiles that make you look awkward whenever a camera is pointed at you, here are some tips that you can use to ensure that you have a picture-perfect smile every time someone asks you to say, “CHEESE!”

Picture Perfect Smile Tips

Posing for the Camera

“Say cheese!” is a common cue for quick pics with your family and friends! But many photographers will suggest you don’t actually say cheese if you want a more natural-looking smile in your photo. Being in front of a camera isn’t easy for many people and can make for awkward facial expressions. Professional photographers will use tricks to get you to laugh and look at ease. One of those is to simply think of something that makes you happy. The next one is to relax! Do a little dance or jump around to ease the tension in your body. Finally, if you need to say something before the shutter snaps, say “money!”

Routine Dental Check-Ups

In order to have a picture-perfect smile, you need to have clean, healthy teeth. It doesn’t matter how perfectly you form your mouth, if your teeth aren’t visually pleasing, your smile won’t reach its full potential. In order to ensure your smile is as captivating and eye-catching as possible, make routine dental check-ups and cleanings a habit. Ideally, dental appointments should be every 6 months. However, if that frequency isn’t possible, a visit to the dental office once a year will suffice. During these appointments, your dentist will examine your teeth and mouth to ensure that your oral health is in tip-top condition, and the hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth.

If your dental checkups are irregular, your chances of developing dental health issues, such as periodontal disease, receding, swelling, and even bleeding gums, as well as tooth loss, will increase. For a picture-perfect smile, make sure you visit your dentist regularly.

Whiten Your Teeth

To achieve a picture-perfect smile, your teeth not only need to be healthy, but they should also be white. Your teeth could be super-healthy, however, if they’re stained, your smile isn’t going to look as great as it should. Coffee, tea, soda, and red wine are just some of the things that can discolor the teeth. Fortunately, you can reverse that discoloration. There are many different types of teeth whitening products, some of which can be purchased over-the-counter, and some that a cosmetic dentist will need to perform. Examples include custom-made trays, laser whitening, and whitening strips and pastes that you can apply at home.

It’s important to note that while white teeth are an important part of a picture-perfect smile, there is such as thing as too white. If your teeth look like they have been soaked in a vat of bleach, they will look unnatural, and that can end up throwing off your smile.

Brush and Floss Regularly

Regular flossing and brushing are vital for your oral health and are important for a picture-perfect smile as well. Flossing helps to remove dirt, debris, and plaque that accumulates between the teeth and under the gums, spaces where a toothbrush can’t reach. Flossing on a daily basis will also help to prevent serious oral health issues, such as gingivitis, tooth decay, periodontal disease, and even tooth loss. Of course, regular brushing is also important for maintaining the health of your teeth – and your smile. Brushing removes the buildup of plaque and debris on the surface of your teeth, which not only helps to prevent decay but also helps keep your teeth white.

Drink Lots of Water

It’s no secret that water is the healthiest beverage that you can drink. Staying hydrated helps to keep your gums healthy and flushes dirt and debris from the surface of the teeth. This can help to keep tooth decay at bay. Ideally, you should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day.

Final Thoughts

With these simple tips, you’ll not only be able to get a picture-perfect smile, but you’ll be able to improve your oral health as well.
